The big #socialcarefuture get-together event programme & session details

Dear Friends,

Please find attached your ‘at a glance’ programme and session guide for the #socialcarefuture gathering in Manchester on 14th and 15th of November. We are really looking forward to welcoming you, whether you are coming for the full gathering, one day or some sessions. As a gathering organised fully by volunteers, you won’t be expecting a slick, corporate event. The spirit will be mutual support and creativity. There will be volunteers to give information help and we know you are coming in that spirit of collaboration and friendship to help too.

Social Care Future is a gathering of more than 300 people which will be taking place in two venues –

at the Friends Meeting House,

6 Mount Street

Manchester

M2 5NS

and the People’s History Museum

New Ct St

Manchester

M3 3ER

Please note from the programme that following the launch at the Friends Meeting House, some sessions will be running at the same time across the two venues so you will need to choose what you want to take part in. These won’t be pre-booked so have a think about options in case your first choice gets full. The distance between the two venues is about a 10 minute walk, we will provide maps and assistance to get between the venues if you should need it. See the attached guide for the workshop and action session details.

As well as the pre-planned sessions there will be opportunity for “Open Space” – where you can book a slot to debate or share things you feel are important.

We have an evening reception on the Wednesday at the People’s History Museum, with food and music for those able to join us. You will be able to pick up a ticket for this as you arrive.

After our main gathering closes on Thursday afternoon, some of us will be crossing the road to meet with colleagues at the National Children’s and Adults Social Care Conference at Manchester Central. This is to share the debates and plans from our two days and see where we can make common cause. There will be an opportunity for some from our gathering to join that session.

We will be taking photos and video during the gathering, if you do not wish to be photographed or videoed please let the team know on arrival and you will be given a coloured sticker so that our photographer and videographers can easily identify you.

Please note that the gathering is now full and we are holding a ‘waiting list’ so if you are unable to attend please could you let us know as soon as possible. If you have not already confirmed any accessibility or dietary requirements please can you let us know so that we can ensure your needs are accommodated at admin@in-control.org.uk

See you soon!
